The emergence of private equity and vibe coding in fabrication

Breaking down the biggest trends and takeaways from this year's FABTECH.

It was the largest FABTECH in history exhibit space-wise. There were over 40,000 attendees (almost record-breaking). With all sorts of worries in the market as far as where the economy is headed (all sorts of trade policy concerns among various sectors of the economy), in metal fabrication it's full steam ahead and there was a lot of optimism at the show. During my reporting, I went all over the conference and one presentation from Level Up Consulting (an ERP consulting firm) stood out; It's very interesting to note that vibe coding was a hot topic, which basically is you use AI to say, "Please write me a scheduling software that handles these types of jobs and put together a Gantt chart for me," and they showed it on the screen and boom, it was created. And it basically gives you a bunch of Lego blocks for your ERP. My contact there was saying this is basically the future ... a modularized platform.
