CLIENT SPOTLIGHT

White Gorge Designs

Sam Tresco doesn't just build furniture, he disrupts the throwaway culture and creates tangible heritage using OSH Cut parts.

Sam:    My name is Sam Tresco. I’ve been building custom furniture for the past 10 years, and have been running my business here in the Granary District for the past five.

Onscreen text:    What makes your business unique?

Sam:    I’m sure you’ve noticed that you’re always in this cycle of “your stuff breaks, you buy more stuff, and you can’t buy anything for life”. I want to design furniture that can last literally for centuries, be passed on to generations, be refinished during that time to keep up with trends and when popular colors change, and then at the very end of the lifespan of that piece of furniture it can then be recycled and it’s cost effective to recycle.

Onscreen text:   What’s your OSH Cut story?

Sam:    So I started using OSH Cut pretty much immediately when I started my business. As OSH’s capabilities have grown, my capabilities have grown.  When they added bending, that was a huge level-up for me. The next big level-up, of course, was the tube laser capabilities, and tubes are amazing because each one has its own structural rigidity to it, so once you have one you get something that’s stiff in all directions and doesn’t want to twist. So, it’s one of my absolute favorite things to build structures out of right now.

Onscreen text:  Tell us about the conference table

Sam:    I really like to show my suppliers the kinds of projects I’m making, so I put together an album of a lot of the projects I’ve made using OSH parts.  And the guys at OSH said, “Would you like to make us a conference table?” … which was just the biggest compliment for me because OSH cuts parts for so many really talented people, and I’m so honored they chose me to show what their capabilities are.

Onscreen text:   What would you tell other makers about OSH Cut?

Sam: It’s my absolute favorite way of making things. Also, it allows you to take all the painful parts out of metalwork. You can just do the part that’s fun, which is clicking all the parts together, welding it up, and seeing something appear very quickly. It still feels like magic every single time I do it.
